NIFTY and BANKNIFTY on one multi-chart desk

11 Aug 2026 · Seven Ticks Software

A 2×2 layout for index traders: NIFTY 15m, BANKNIFTY 5m, a higher-timeframe bias pane, and a watchlist — without leaving the workspace.

Index traders rarely watch one symbol. NIFTY sets the market, BANKNIFTY amplifies it, and a stock from the watchlist either confirms or diverges. A multi-chart layout keeps those panes in one workspace so you are not alt-tabbing through broker terminals while the 5-minute bar closes.

A 2×2 that actually gets used

Four panes is enough. More than that and you start decorating instead of reading. A desk that survives the 9:15 open looks like this:

NIFTY 15mBANKNIFTY 5mNIFTY 1hWatchlist
NIFTY 15m for bias, BANKNIFTY 5m for timing, a 1h pane, and a watchlist slot.
  • Top-left: NIFTY 15m — opening range, previous day high/low, session VWAP.
  • Top-right: BANKNIFTY 5m — faster beta, same levels, tighter stops in points.
  • Bottom-left: NIFTY 1h or daily — so a 15m pullback is not mistaken for a trend change.
  • Bottom-right: FINNIFTY, SENSEX, or a heavyweight you actually trade.

Each pane keeps its own stack

The point of a layout is not four copies of the same chart. Symbol, timeframe and indicator stack stay independent. You can run Supertrend on BANKNIFTY 5m and a clean OHLC on NIFTY 15m. Sync is for the workspace (drawings, theme, account) — not for forcing every pane onto one interval.

Read candles the same way on every pane. If you need a refresher on body versus wick, start with NSE candlestick anatomy.

Index correlation without guessing

When NIFTY is grinding up on 15m but BANKNIFTY is printing lower highs on 5m, private banks are usually the drag. When both expand together through previous day high, the move is broader. A layout makes that visible in one glance — you do not need a heatmap widget to see it.

Pair the faster pane with Supertrend and VWAP if you trade futures. Leave the 1h pane cleaner so the bias does not fight the execution chart.

Save the desk

Named layouts remember timeframe, indicators and pane arrangement. Tomorrow’s 9:14 should look like today’s 15:31, not a blank grid. That is the difference between a terminal and a screenshot.

1, 2×2, 3-up and 4-grid layouts — each pane keeps its own symbol and indicator stack.
